Vitamin K
Vitamin K is a group of fat-soluble vitamins that play a role in bone metabolism, blood clotting, and regulation of blood calcium levels.
There are two forms of vitamin K: vitamin K1 and vitamin K2.
Vitamin K1 is mostly found in plants and is our main source of vitamin K.
Vitamin K2 is found in fermented foods and some meats and cheeses.
Recent research suggests that vitamin K may play a role in the treatment of osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s, and that consuming increased levels of vitamin K may help protect against cancer and heart disease.
